The 2022 Hyundai Kona is a subcompact SUV that has been completely upgraded. It now has balanced driving dynamics, decent fuel economy, user-friendly entertainment, infotainment options, and remarkable interior materials.
The only notable downside to the upgraded version is the limited rear-seat space and small cargo capacity. Other than that, the 2022 Hyundai Kona is an amazing five-seater with 147 to 276 horsepower, depending on the trim level.
Recently, the mini-SUVs we've seen haven't exactly been fuel-efficient. However, the new 2022 Hyundai Kona breaks this cycle, scoring good EPA ratings.
The Kona made its debut in 2019, offering features like Lane Keep Assist, Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist, and Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. In 2020, Hyundai added a few more features to the vehicle, such as Cruise Control. In addition, the company also renamed the trim levels.
The 2022 Hyundai Kona has four trim levels: N Line, Limited, SE, and SEL. Among these trims, the Limited has the most features.
The SE is the base model of the new Kona. It has impressive features like heated front seats, automatic temperature control, wireless device charging, Hyundai digital key, a hidden storage compartment in the cargo area, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and more.
Moreover, the 147-hp 2.0L MPI 4-cylinder engine allows the SE to have a 26/33 mpg fuel economy. Inside, the infotainment features include an 8-inch color touchscreen display audio compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.
Standout Features:
The SEL shares many features of the SE trim, such as the 147-hp 2.0L MPI 4-cylinder engine and 17-inch alloy wheels. However, it also has additional features, such as the Proximity Key with a push-start button.
It allows the user to start the engine without taking the key out of their pocket or purse. Other notable features in the SEL include the Blue Link Connected Car System, which gives the user the ability to control select features of the car using their smartphone.
The SEL also has advanced safety features like the Blind-Spot Collision-Avoidance Assist (BCA) and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance Assist (RCCA). Both these features use radar to detect vehicles in the driver's blind spot and provide an audible warning if it's unsafe to change lanes.
Standout Features:
The N Line is the sporty variant of the new 2022 Kona. It's powered by a 195-hp 1.6L turbocharged GDI 4-cylinder engine and features sports seats. It also has a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission that facilitates more responsive acceleration.
The trim's 18-inch alloy wheels make it look more aggressive than the other trims. Other notable features in the N Line include the Sport Pedal, shift knob, dual-tip exhaust, and 8-way power driver seat.
Standout Features:
The Limited is the top-of-the-line trim of the new 2022 Hyundai Kona, offering the most luxurious and advanced features. It has the same 195-hp 1.6L turbocharged GDI 4-cylinder engine as the N Line and sports the same 18-inch alloy wheels.
However, it lacks the sporty features of the N Line trim. Instead, it has 10.25-inch touchscreen navigation for the infotainment system and a Heads-up Display (HUD).
The HUD projects key information, such as the speed and navigation directions, onto the windshield so that the driver doesn't have to take their eyes off the road.
Standout Features:
Overall, the 2022 Hyundai Kona is a sight to behold. It's packed with features that make it a great choice for both city and highway driving. So, if you're in the market for the latest Kona, visit us at Patriot Hyundai to check the Kona in person
